Latin I Syllabus, December 7-15

 

 

                                                                                               Latin I- Week of December 7-11: Week 2.7—Dec. 14-18: Week 2.8

Objectives: GRAMMAR: Learners demonstrate knowledge of tenses by identifying and using past tenses (imperfect/perfect) in plural subjects; knowledge of cases by identifying and using indirect objects (dative case) in all three declensions;

CULTURE: They show awareness of Roman traditions in school and teaching by recognizing vocabulary relating to schools recognize words related to schools and relating facts about Roman schools

S.A.T.: Learners improve their English vocabulary by using the Latin base to define English words/derivatives;

Please be aware that all tests, with the exception of the semester final exam, will be recycled by February. Check and correct your tests in the test folder and raise any questions before the end of the semester, please.

Monday 7

Lesson or Activity: Derivative 9 Quiz–Review for Major Test 9
Assignments: Study Stage 9 for Major Test with study guide
Stage 9 exercises (due tomorrow)--You will not have time to organize them and staple them in class: Syllabus 2.6; Model sentences 9, analyzed/corrected; in palaestra page 146 questions = 3 items
Workbook: 9.5; 9.10= 50 points each; each item must be completed to receive credit.   DO NOT include the project (in apodyterio) which was graded separately
Tuesday December 8 
Lesson or Activity: Turn in exercises- turn in workbook before test-- Stage 9 Major Test ––—Assignments: Copy and translate model sentences 10; skip three lines at every line-Friday is the last day for exercises and workbook 9---points off per diem. Leave one line on TOP of Latin sentences to write annotations. USE CHARTS to translate the forms for “ we” and “you, pl.”

Wednesday 9 Lesson or Activity: Stage 10: in class, with partners, correct model sentences 10; analyze verbs, and personal endings (see charts) – ANALYSIS to write: identify verb endings for “we”, “you pl.” – Write in red/green on the squared off verb ending.

Assignments: Write vocabulary 10 on cards and study the words;

Stage 10 exercises due on Tuesday, December 15: Syllabus 2.7; Model sentences 10, analyzed; =2 items; workbook 10.1; 10.5; 10.7; 10.9; 10.11)= 5 items

Thursday 10

Lesson or Activity: Workbook and exercises 9 are late-- Review Voc. 10 online (ORAL)— review adjectives ( comparatives and superlatives) and write workbook 10.7

Tuesday 15

Lesson or Activity: Turn in exercises and workbook (one grade)-   Play Jeopardy as a review for Semester I final—Today is the LAST day for late work --review for Semester I Exam with review handouts  and Semester I Exam Study guide—–Assignments:
At the time of Latin Semester Final Exam you will turn IN your DERIVATIVE FOLDER, with corrected derivatives-- Derivative in folder are part of the Semester I Exam and credit cannot be given if not turned in at the time of the final

Latin III Syllabus

Latin I- Week of August 31-September 4 Week I.2  

Objectives: Syntax: identify nominative and ablative cases and their use; understand that Latin word order differ from English; translate simple sentences and recognize vocabulary words in context; Vocabulary and Derivatives: identify or translate vocabulary related to stories about house and people in Pompeii, Italy  and recognize derivatives as well as their Latin base. Culture: identify Roman house and way Romans lived reading: read with comprehension You need supplies and card stock to make plan of Roman house.

Lesson or Activity: Turn in derivative folders w/ title page (see teacher’s directions)--Derivative 1 Quiz -make house plan (Test grade)- --See rubric below -House plan is due on Monday ( last day for full credit)-points off after that till a deadline-- Assignment(s): Continue and finish house/ plan; Decorate house; without extra decorations maximum grade is 90

Friday September 4

Lesson or Activity: TURN IN HOUSE PLAN—share--Write workbook ex. 1.1 –-Stamp and correct workbook—Review with teacher.  Assignment(s):  Review all of Stage 1 for Major TEST, question multiple choice test
Major test (scantron, w/pencil) is on Wednesday. Bring a good eraser! Assigned exercised in Workbook are  due the day of the test—Gather all exercises from Stage 1 and staple them to turn them in to get them recorded (DO NOT include vocabulary and derivatives) (see board)

 Print next week’s syllabus and bring it to class with you!

Monday September 8

House Rubric ---Maximum grade is 90+:
House must be drawn in markers or colored pencils on light colored card stock, the size of a normal sheet of paper.
All rooms must be present and rooms must be labeled in Latin.( 4 bedrooms, alae, tabernae and perystilium included—see book for all the rooms)
All rooms are only labeled in Latin. Points are taken off for English words.
At least 4 decorations (tables, couches, fountains, columns) need to be present.
You must also label entry (fauces), compluvium, impluvium, lavatrina and lararium.
Extra decorations will gain extra points over the grade of 90.
10 points will be taken off per day each day the project is late till the following Friday, when the project will not be accepted any longer.


French Syllabus

FRENCH III-pre A.P.    Week of September 1-5 Week I.2
You need a dictionary. Print this syllabus and keep it with you all week.   Objectives: Learners demonstrate knowledge of fable by La Fontaine by acting it out with props

Tuesday September 1st—le premier septembre
Lesson or Activity: Le corbeau et le renard et La cigale et la fourmie; PRESENT TO CLASS  -Start vocabulary on paper, in colors. Also see www.studystack.com.   Account is French III MHS. Verbs must include the form ells (pl.) in the present and passé composé.
Assignment(s): If you have presented your fable, continue with vocabulary; if not, practice the fable.

Wednesday 2
Lesson or Activity: Le corbeau et le renard et La cigale et la fourmie; PRESENT TO CLASS, if necessary.  THIS IS A MAJOR TEST GRADE.   Write vocabulary on cards pages 3-4, including vocabulary w/pictures and plus de vocabulaire-See example on board.  Assignments: Finish and study vocabulary.

Thursday 3 Lesson or Activity: Record vocabulary cards--Practice vocabulary with teacher (ORAL)--also add French definitions to cards --- Write ex. 3-4 page 5: you must ALWAYS copy the complete exercise to receive credit --— Assignment(s): Study vocabulary for quiz; finish exercises, if applicable
