Latin I Syllabus, December 7-15

 

 

                                                                                               Latin I- Week of December 7-11: Week 2.7—Dec. 14-18: Week 2.8

Objectives: GRAMMAR: Learners demonstrate knowledge of tenses by identifying and using past tenses (imperfect/perfect) in plural subjects; knowledge of cases by identifying and using indirect objects (dative case) in all three declensions;

CULTURE: They show awareness of Roman traditions in school and teaching by recognizing vocabulary relating to schools recognize words related to schools and relating facts about Roman schools

S.A.T.: Learners improve their English vocabulary by using the Latin base to define English words/derivatives;

Please be aware that all tests, with the exception of the semester final exam, will be recycled by February. Check and correct your tests in the test folder and raise any questions before the end of the semester, please.

Monday 7

Lesson or Activity: Derivative 9 Quiz–Review for Major Test 9
Assignments: Study Stage 9 for Major Test with study guide
Stage 9 exercises (due tomorrow)--You will not have time to organize them and staple them in class: Syllabus 2.6; Model sentences 9, analyzed/corrected; in palaestra page 146 questions = 3 items
Workbook: 9.5; 9.10= 50 points each; each item must be completed to receive credit.   DO NOT include the project (in apodyterio) which was graded separately
Tuesday December 8 
Lesson or Activity: Turn in exercises- turn in workbook before test-- Stage 9 Major Test ––—Assignments: Copy and translate model sentences 10; skip three lines at every line-Friday is the last day for exercises and workbook 9---points off per diem. Leave one line on TOP of Latin sentences to write annotations. USE CHARTS to translate the forms for “ we” and “you, pl.”

Wednesday 9 Lesson or Activity: Stage 10: in class, with partners, correct model sentences 10; analyze verbs, and personal endings (see charts) – ANALYSIS to write: identify verb endings for “we”, “you pl.” – Write in red/green on the squared off verb ending.

Assignments: Write vocabulary 10 on cards and study the words;

Stage 10 exercises due on Tuesday, December 15: Syllabus 2.7; Model sentences 10, analyzed; =2 items; workbook 10.1; 10.5; 10.7; 10.9; 10.11)= 5 items

Thursday 10

Lesson or Activity: Workbook and exercises 9 are late-- Review Voc. 10 online (ORAL)— review adjectives ( comparatives and superlatives) and write workbook 10.7

Write derivatives 10 Worksheet-Assignment(s): Study voc. 10 and finish derivatives 10

Friday 11

Lesson or Activity: Correct derivatives 10— Write workbook 10.1 and 10.5--Write Stage 10 word study exercises page 179- DEFINEWORDS!
Review verbs with charts: also see examples online and on studystack                Assignment(s): Finish derivatives; Derivatives are due on Monday in folder—Study declensions and verbs; Review for final exam by going to the book on line and with your study guide

Monday 14

Lesson or Activity: Turn in Derivatives 10--— Teacher will discuss Stage 10 culture –Review for Semester I exam with Jeopardy game–Assignments:
Stage 10 exercises due on Tuesday, December 16: Syllabus 2.7; Model sentences 10, analyzed; =2 items; Workbook is also due: 10.1; 10.5; 10.7; = 3 items ----- total, one grade= 5 items

Tuesday 15

Lesson or Activity: Turn in exercises and workbook (one grade)-   Play Jeopardy as a review for Semester I final—Today is the LAST day for late work --review for Semester I Exam with review handouts  and Semester I Exam Study guide—–Assignments:
At the time of Latin Semester Final Exam you will turn IN your DERIVATIVE FOLDER, with corrected derivatives-- Derivative in folder are part of the Semester I Exam and credit cannot be given if not turned in at the time of the final
